Herd Mentality

Over at DaringFireball.net, Mr. Gruber makes a good argument that it is time some of the other PC makers stepped up and started developing their own OS.

I have to say I’m in total agreement with him. Apple has the best OS, but how much better could it be if they had 2 or three other companies pushing them to maintain their lead? How much better could a version of Linux become in the hands of Sony’s development team?

I’m honestly looking forward to what Google’s Chrome OS will do for the industry.
