Gooden, Strawberry, & Tyson.
the greatest collection of wasted talent and youth ever captured on film.

Really? Wasted talent and youth? Correct me if I’m wrong, but the three men in this photo accomplished more by their twenty-fifth birthdays than damn near everyone reading this. Sure, they are three men who were ill-equipped to handle the massive success they achieved in their youth, but how many people ever have to take that test, let alone pass it? And, let’s remember, they achieved their successes not just because they were talented, but because they worked their asses off to get there.
It’s as easy to criticize as it is difficult to succeed, particularly over the course of a lifetime.
If you haven’t yet read the recent Mike Tyson interview in Details, now is probably a good time to check it out.

I was a big Mets fan for awhile after Gary Carter got traded from the Expos. Watching Gooden and Strawberry implode over the next decade was sad. Not because of the wasted talent, but more so the wasted potential. Most people dream of the chance(s) they got, and to watch them flush it all away was heartbreaking.

Mike Tyson wouldn’t slide into home plate…he’d give the catcher a right hook instead.

Bullshit it ain’t. Mike Tyson doesn’t use a bat. He hits the ball with his fist and gets a homerun every single time....
